Another week gone

We have had a fairly quiet week, the highlight being the installation of our new blinds!! We are feeling warmer already!

Bob ran in his school cross country today, they were representing different Olympic teams, Bob chose England for me!! Anyway they had to run a 800m circuit with a hill 1/2 way around!! Bob had to beat his personal best of 6mins20secs and he did by a whole minute, the poor thing was not having fun, i could see the look i know myself on his face but he kept going and blitzed it, he has been milking it all afternoon. I forgot my camera but took a couple with Danielles camera so will put them on when i get them.

I took a few close ups of the boys the other night, they are getting so big!

Star Wars Sunday

Today has been a great day for Bob, for a start he slept in which is a blessing for us all! when he did wake up he found 4 Star Wars Books in his room ( this is my new stratergy to keep him away from the TV on a Sunday morning) He was thrilled to say the least and these kept him busy (and in his PJs) until lunch time!

We all love taking it easy on Sunday so after lunch we played with Gran, Grandad and Blayne. The boys ended up in the bottom paddock talking to the neighbouring kids, 3 boys from school, then highlight of highlights the boys were invited to play at their house!! Bob has never had a play over at anyones house without me! It has worried me more than him but today the drought was broken and he had a great time! He came home glowing and said he had the most "Fableeous play". He ended the day with pancakes and Gladiators on TV, a dream day for Bob!

The chooks came out for a brief free range today, I stayed between them and the fence which was a good thing as i could see they wanted to sprint next door! They happily came home when i started to get their food out so an improvement!

All the girls have names now.......................they are Princess Leah (we hope she will!), Joyce(chosen by Toby??), Mrs Skywalker(no prizes!), Coriander and May!

Hanging out with Toby

Yesterday i spent the morning at school with Toby. This term they are looking at castles, Toby was chosen to be the Knight of the Day! Sir Toby was waited on by his class mates, so cute! and has to look after the frog princess Aurora until next week! He is taking this very seriously and so Aurora is coming everywhere! it was good fun, it is such a great Kindy, so happy and with only 15 kids it is so calm and organised. Such a change from Bobs kindy.

When we came home Toby and I helped Sean fix up the chook house, we had to put a roof on the nesting boxes as the chooks were roosting up there and also work on the run as free ranging is on hold until they respond to food!

Chooks 1 Me 0

The chooks are settling in to the hen house and this is where they have been since arriving on Sunday afternoon. So according to the chook guy and the many books 48hrs "cooped up" is enough and they should be ready to start exploring. So i let them out!! The boys and i sat well back and watched as they took their first steps outside, ahhhh happy chooks! They obviously smelt freedom and promptly ran onto the next property..................needless to say they had fun watching the boys and I trying to get them back over our side of the fence. Once back in the right yard I decided to retreat and let them wander around and ambush them later. Thanks to a small peice of fence wire and a long stick i managed get them safely home. I think tomorrow we will be finishing their pen and i will have to wait until they trust me before we let them "free range" again!

First taste of freedom

The Chooks are here!!!!!

Eddie F 4 Phantom

Finally 5 months and 1 day after moving to the bush we have our Chooks!! Thanks James and Jason for my great birthday pressie, we have 5 girls and 1 rooster and they are the very beautiful Light Sussex variety. We hope to breed........hence the rooster, so we can supply ourselves with eggs and meat!! will let you know how that goes!!

The rooster has been named Eddie F 4 Phantom by the boys, Eddie f4 for short! the girls are yet to be named but one is quite vocal so i see a Madonna amongst them!
I have had a great birthday, very relaxing, i am about to settle down to an evening of girls tv with my "heated throw rug" that the boys gave me and a glass of Amarula! Life is good!
